This morning, Kris and I took a walk up to the construction site of the new tasting room. Construction is coming along nicely, including the initial site work and grading as well as the formwork for the foundations. The deck will be huge, and we’re looking forward to this fall when we can relax on the deck with our friends and family, and enjoy the view of the vineyard and horse barns. We’ve been so excited to see this part of the project moving forward and everything is full-steam ahead.
During our walk we wandered through each vineyard block to check our late winter preparations. We are concentrating our efforts now on pruning the vines and we are well on our way getting ready for spring and bud break. When the weather warms a bit, we will be prepared and ahead in the game.
We selected this particular site for the tasting room because of the view overlooking the entire vineyard and ranch. We initially had a trellised gazebo at this site, and after a full day, we spent many sunsets “up on the hill.” We’ve always enjoyed that view overlooking Block A. However, the gazebo location conflicted with the new tasting room. So, we have moved that structure a few hundred yards to the north in the center of vineyard Block B. It was nice to sit for a while and enjoy this new view overlooking the pond. Today, the sun warmed things up from a rather cool morning and the ducks on the pond were having a great time. Our dog, Zoey, had brown dirt plastered to the tip of her nose because she enjoys sticking her nose into gopher holes to see what unsuspecting things might be lurking below the ground.
Our loop finished back at the winery. The dog still had energy for more, but we had spent a significant part of the morning during the walk and it was time to get back to work.

Sounds fabulous! So excited for you!
The plans for your new tasting room looks beautiful. I can hardly wait to visit. We opened up both your Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo last night and have been doing our own taste testing. We love them both! Thank you. Congrats.
